Maxwell Hillier Lamb, age 64, of Hawley, MN, passed away peacefully at his home on May 3, 2024, after a valiant battle with cancer. Born on March 27, 1960, in Karlstad, MN, to the late Billie June and Charles Oliver Lamb, Max grew up in Middle River, St. Hilaire, and Thief River Falls, MN. He later made his homes in Moorhead, Glyndon, and finally Hawley, MN.
In 1991, he began his thirty-three year journey with his soul mate, Sheila Sheppard. They were united in marriage on November 26, 2002.
Max’s life was marked by his love for his family, friends and the simple joys of life. A man of many passions, Max loved being at the lake, riding motorcycles, and driving semi-trucks. He retired from TranSystems after a long career in transportation. Known for his playful spirit, he would often sing “Happy Birthday” with his microphone and remind everyone to “check their oil,” a testament to his caring and meticulous nature.
Max is survived by his loving wife, Sheila Sheppard; his children, Jason (Janean) Lamb, Kimberly (Carlos) Lamb, Ashley Cossette, Sara Sheppard, Alicia Lamb, Deanna Sheppard, Anthony Lamb, Jarrod Sheppard, Billie Sheppard, and Bobbie Sheppard; and numerous grandchildren, Danyellie, Andrew, Shelby, Shawn, Mason, Nina, Nathan, Connor, Bella, Johnny, Lilliana, Owynn, Anthony Jr, Ryan, Brian, Ella, Ava, Ethan and Jaclyn, who brought immense joy to his life.
He also leaves behind Russ and Gloria Cossette (mother and father in law); his siblings, Lynnette Hasby, Howard Lamb, Nancy Boutain, Lisa Rood, and Bonnie (Dale) Sayers; sister-in-law, Barbara (The Late Michael) Lamb, sister-in-law, Danielle Cossette Anderson ; and many nieces, nephews, and great-nieces and nephews.
Max was preceded in death by his parents; his brother, Michael Lamb; sisters, Lauretta Clements, Charlene Godfredson, and Melinda Lamb; and several brothers-in-law and nephews.
A private service will be held to honor Max’s memory at a later date. His legacy of love, laughter, and the importance of family will live on through those who knew him best.
His family wishes to extend their heartfelt thanks to all who supported Max throughout his journey.
“Have you checked your oil?” will forever remind us of Max’s enduring care and attention to detail, a fitting tribute to a man who made sure everything was just right for the ones he loved.
