Mearl F. Zentgraf

Mearl Frederick Zentgraf was born July 20, 1926, to George and Bernice (Stein) Zentgraf, on the family farm near Great Bend, ND, where he was raised and attended school. In 1945, Mearl joined the Army and was stationed in Okinawa, Japan. He was honorably discharged in August of 1946.

Mearl was united in marriage to Elaine Krause on December 21, 1947, at St. John Lutheran Church in Belford Township and they made their home in Wahpeton, ND. Mearl worked many years for Great Northern Railroad, which became Burlington Northern Railroad. When the railroads merged, the family moved to Moorhead in 1971. He retired from Burlington Northern.

Mearl died Saturday, October 12, 2013, in Sanford Health, Fargo, at eighty-seven years of age.

Mearl is survived by one son, Wayne (Nancy) Zentgraf, Harris, MN; one daughter, Donna (Clint) Rogers, Breckenridge, MN; six grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife, Elaine; one son, Dennis; and one daughter, Sharon.

Visitation will be Tuesday, October 15, 2013, from 5 - 7 PM, in Korsmo Funeral Chapel, Moorhead.

His funeral, with full military honors, will be Wednesday, October 16, 2013, at 10:30 AM, in Our Redeemer Lutheran Church, Moorhead.

Burial will be in Fairview Cemetery, Wahpeton.
