Melissa A. (Karau) Schmidt, 25, of Moorhead, MN, passed away suddenly due to unexpected heart failure on Monday, November 12, 2007, at Innovis Hospital, Fargo ND.
Melissa Ann Karau was born on February 5, 1982, to Lola and Richard Karau. She grew up in the F-M area spending most of her life at 560 92nd Ave N, Moorhead. She attended the Moorhead School System and graduated in 2000. Melissa then attended Aakers Business College for a short time. She later moved on to receive her CNA license and worked at Meritcare Hospital and nursing homes. Currently she was working at the VFW, Moorhead.
To Missy, her family was very important and always came first. She loved spending time with her nephew and nieces. Some of her favorite activities were singing karaoke, playing Bingo, doing latch hook and again, spending time with friends and family.
Melissa met the man of her dreams, Brandon Schmidt, in the fall of 2005. Then on November 21, 2006, they became parents to a beautiful baby boy, Noah. Later, Melissa and Brandon were joined in marriage on October 20, 2007, at Hope Lutheran Church in Fargo. Melissa very much enjoyed being a mother to Noah and wife to Brandon and she cherished her new extended family.
Melissa is survived by her husband, Brandon; a son, Noah; her mother, Lola (Hinsverk) Karau Jensen (Mike), of Osakis MN; her father, Richard Karau (Sue), of Milwaukee, WI; a brother, Michael (Tina) Karau of Moorhead; a sister, Jaimie Jensen of Osakis; si
Melissa was preceded in death by her brother, CJ; step-father, Greg Jensen; grandparents, Thelma and Waldo Hinsverk, Ray Karau, and Carole and Marvin Kildahl; and several aunts and uncles.
Melissa Ann Schmidt will be deeply and sadly missed by all.
Visitation: Friday from 4 - 7 PM in Korsmo Funeral Chapel, Moorhead with a Prayer Service at 7 PM.
Funeral Service: Saturday, November 17, 2007, at 1 PM in Hope Lutheran Church North Campus, Fargo with burial in North Buffalo Lutheran Cemetery, Kragnes, MN.
