Melissa Le Anna Lucht was born May 25, 1974, to Karen (Kronquist) and Randy Lucht in St. Cloud, MN. As an infant and young child, Melissa lived in St. Cloud, Detroit, Lakes, and Ivanhoe, MN. In October of 1976, Melissa and her family moved to rural Hawley, MN.
Melissa loved growing up on a small farmstead. She spent much of her childhood tending to her cats, ducks, chickens, turkeys, pigeons, and dogs. Melissa's love of animals, concern for the environment and care for others was a passion that she continued throughout her life, always putting the concern of others before her own. Melissa loved gardening, traveling, concerts, music, reading, food pantries, homeless shelters, animal shelters, the military, and care of the earth.
Melissa died Wednesday, April 25, 2012, in her home in Moorhead at the age of 37.
She is survived by her parents; brother, Christoper; a large loving family, friends, and her rescued pets. Memorials are preferred to Minn-Kota Paaws, No Critter Left Behind, Dorothy Day House, or Moorhead Thrift Shop.
A private family celebration of Melissa's life is planned. May God bless the memory of Melissa.
