Melva Lokken Myhre

Melva Lokken Myhre, 94, Moorhead, MN, died Tuesday, June 9, 2015, in River Pointe, Moorhead.

Melva Evelyn Rost, daughter of Oliver and Hilma (Hellem) Rost, was born August 10, 1920, in Ollie, Montana. The family moved to Ulen, MN, where Melva grew up, received her education, and graduated from high school in 1939.

During WW II, Melva moved to California where she worked for Hughes Aircraft. She was united in marriage to David R. Lokken on March 8, 1943, in North Hollywood, CA. After the war, the couple moved to Moorhead, where they lived and raised their family. David died on February 9, 1978.

On September 7, 1984, Melva married Burnell Myhre. They made their home in Omaha, NE. Burnell died on April 7, 1999. After his death, Melva returned to Moorhead to live.
Melva was a housewife and stay at home mother. She was a wonderful homemaker and seamstress. She always thought of her family's needs first. She enjoyed time at the lakes with family and followed the Minnesota Twins and the Moorhead Spuds.

Melva is survived by three children, Denese Norris, Moorhead, Charles Lokken, Spicer, MN, and Mary Lindvig, Phoenix, AZ; four grandchildren, Benjamin (Anne) Norris and David Norris, both Moorhead, Clayton Lindvig and Christopher Lindvig, both Phoenix; great-grandson, Caleb Norris; brother, Donald (Arla) Rost, Roseville, MN; sisters-in-law, Evelyn Lokken, Moorhead, and Helen Anderson, Detroit Lakes, MN; and nephews, Duane (Mary) Rost, Carl (Caroline) Lokken, Tom (Colleen) Lokken, Jim Lokken, Dan (Lynne) Lokken, and their families. Also surviving are stepchildren, Michael (Ruthie) Thompson, Eric (Martha Bellew-Smith) Myhre, Ann (Dan) O'Toole, Joel (Terry) Myhre, and Margaret (Patrick Long) Myhre; stepgrandchildren, Lori (Brian) Buselt, Jennifer (Ryan) Snyder, Amanda (Kurtis) Mason, Jonathan (Rachel) Peck, Daniel Peck, and their families.

Melva was preceded in death by her husbands; her parents; and brothers, Harold and Kenneth.

Visitation is Sunday, 5 PM to 7 PM, in Korsmo Funeral Chapel, Moorhead.

Funeral Service is Monday, June 15, 2015, at 11 AM, in Trinity Lutheran Church, Moorhead.

Burial at Riverside Cemetery, Moorhead.
