Inez Mereda Lawson Roder was born August 25, 1927, to Harrison and Alice (Ringland) Lawson at Walhalla, ND. She passed away at her home at The Evergreens in Fargo, ND, on October 13, 2008, at eighty-one years of age.
Mereda grew up in the Concrete, ND, area and graduated from high school at Langdon, ND. She attended Valley City (ND)Teacher's College where she earned her teaching degree and later taught at several area schools.
On June 1, 1949, she married Gene Roder at Minot, ND, and to this union, three daughters were born. Mereda farmed with her husband Gene, in the Easby, ND, area, for thirty-seven years before they retired to their residence in Langdon.
Mereda was active in the Emmanuel Evangelical Church where she was very involved in the quilting group, serving circles, church camps and youth groups throughout the years. She was an active member of the Maple Manor Nursing Home Auxiliary, Friends of Library, and served as a clerk for local elections. She loved to garden, read, and collect dishes. She was known for her hospitality and especially enjoyed time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. In May of 2004, Mereda moved to Fargo to an assisted living facility where she has resided.
Mereda is survived by her three daughters, LaRae Roder of Coon Rapids, MN, Melody ( Jeffery) Scott of Perham, MN, and Amy ( Gary) Christensen of Rapid City, SD; nine grandchildren, Brendan Harker, Carl Harker, Carmen (Ryan) Warner , Courtney (Eric) Schere
Memorials are preferred to Hospice of the Red River Valley.
Visitation for Mereda will be Friday, October 17, 2008, from 5 - 7 PM, with a prayer service at 7 PM, in Korsmo Funeral Chapel, Moorhead.
Her funeral will be Saturday, October 18, 2008, at 10 AM, in Korsmo Funeral Chapel.
A service of committal, to which the public is invited, will be Saturday, October 18, 2008, at 3:30 PM, at Union Cemetery, Osnabrock, ND.
