Mrs. Merle L. Jahr, age 92, Sabin, MN, died Saturday, Feb. 4, 2006, at Good Samaritan Center in Barnesville, MN.
Merle Lucille Williams, the daughter of Wesley "Jack" and Julia (Hilton) Williams, was born September 8, 1913, at Pleasant Lake, ND. She grew up in the Tokio, ND, area. She graduated from high school in Devils Lake, ND, and attended two years of college at Mayville (ND) State Teacher's College. Following her education, she taught rural schools in the Devils Lake area.
On March 8, 1941, Merle was united in marriage to Ralph Jahr at Moorhead, MN. They farmed near Tokio. In 1944, they moved to Hines, Oregon, and later to San Francisco, CA. In 1951, they returned to Tokio. They also lived at Valley City, ND, and Jamestown, ND, before making their home in Moorhead in 1953. In 1966, they moved to rural Sabin, MN.
Her husband, Ralph, died September 4, 2000. Merle continued to live near Sabin, until March of 2003, when she became a resident of the Good Samaritan Center in Barnesville.
Merle is survived by her two daughters, Jacqueline (Lou) Severson, Fargo, ND, and Karen Loken, Sabin; four grandchildren, Kaye Cimo, Jonathan Severson, Michael Severson, and Jack Loken; and two great-grandchildren, Christopher Cimo and Ryan Loken. Merle was preceded in death by her parents, a brother, Stephen; and two sisters, Marian Duell and Ethel Smith.
Visitation: Tuesday, the hour prior to the funeral.
Funeral service: Tuesday, Feb. 7, 2006 at 1:00 PM,in Korsmo Funeral Chapel, Moorhead.
Burial: Elmwood Cemetery, Sabin.
