Merlin "Smokey" Miller of Moorhead, MN, died Tuesday, Aug. 1, 2006 at MeritCare Hospital in Fargo, ND, at the age of 77.
Merlin T. Miller was born Jan. 11, 1929, near Valley City, ND, to Matthias and Frieda (Gahloff) Miller. He was raised and attended school in the Pillsbury, ND area. On June 29, 1951, he married Dorothy Erbstoesser at Leonard, ND. Smokey worked for Rusco Window and Valley Window and Siding.
Smokey enjoyed being with family, fishing and golfing. He has a large collection of golf balls from many places. Smokey also enjoyed gardening and tending many flowers and plants around the house. In the last few years, he enjoyed playing Whist and Pinochle at the Hjemkomst Center in Moorhead.
Merlin is survived by his wife, Dorothy; a daughter, Faye, Fordville, ND; sons, Lee, Moorhead, Gary (Rita), Fargo, and Matt (Sheree), Moorhead; seven grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; a sister, Elsie Larson, Fargo; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and a half-brother, Anton "Tony" Miller.
Visitation: One hour prior to the funeral, at the church.
Funeral service: Saturday, August 5, 2006 at 11 AM,
Trinity Lutheran Church, Moorhead.
Burial: Watson Cemetery, Chaffee, ND.
