Michael Joseph Baker, age 41, of Moorhead, MN, died Tuesday, September 25, 2007, surrounded by his loving family, at MeritCare Palliative Care in Fargo, North Dakota, after a courageous battle with cancer.
Michael, the son of Leo Joe and Marjorie (Holman) Baker, was born December 29, 1965, in Moorhead, where he grew up and received his education. He graduated from Moorhead High School in 1984. Shortly after that, he began working for Hornbacher's in their Moorhead store.
On November 21, 2001, Mike was married to Phyllis Wolf in Moorhead, where they made their home. He was currently the night manager at the Moorhead Hornbacher's grocery store.
As a young man, Mike served as commander and adjutant of the Sons of the American Legion. He enjoyed league bowling at All-Star Bowl in Moorhead, and was a NASCAR fan, especially of Dale Earnhardt Sr.
Mike is survived by his wife, Phyllis, Moorhead; his parents, Joe and Marjorie, Moorhead; two sisters, Jackie Swanson and Anne (Jeremy) Korth, both Moorhead; three stepchildren, David (Dawn) Burnside, Valerie (Troy) Tuton and Veronica (Rick) Vennes; four step-grandchildren; six nieces and nephews, Brandon, Carissa, Eric, Molly, Matthew, and Kali; and two grandnieces, Nevaeh and Quinn.
Visitation: Sunday, from 5 PM until 8 PM, with a prayer service
at 7 PM, Korsmo Funeral Chapel, Moorhead.
Funeral service: Monday, October 1, 2007, at 11 AM,
Our Savior's Lutheran Church, Moorhead.
Burial: Riverside Cemetery, Moorhead.
