Michael Leroy Oberg, 64, Dilworth, MN, died Tuesday, June 25, 2013, in Golden Living Center, Moorhead, MN.
Michael was born March 4, 1949, in Fargo, ND, the son of James L. and Norma Jean (Fischer) Oberg. He attended school in Arizona, the Northwest School of Agriculture in Crookston, MN, and graduated from Moorhead High School in 1968.
That same year, Michael joined the US Marine Corps. He served in Vietnam, and was awarded the Purple Heart, a combat action ribbon and Vietnam Cross of Gallantry.
Michael married Ione "Nikki" Johnson of Fargo, in 1970. They later divorced. They had one daughter, Michelle.
Michael worked in the building trades in Arizona, California, and North Dakota, for several years. He also worked at Solid Comfort in Fargo. He resided in Hogue Estates, Dilworth, until 2011, when he moved to Golden Living Center, Moorhead.
Michael is survived by his daughter, Michelle; four grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents.
Memorials preferred to Golden Living Center Auxiliary, or Hospice of the Red River Valley.
