Michael David Stenerson was born September 14, 1975. Growing up, Michael and his family lived by Lake Park, MN, where he attended elementary school. He could be seen riding his banana seat bike with his dog Goldie following, often going fishing or visiting neighbors. Michael was joined by two siblings, Sarah, now of Little Falls, and Robert, of Moorhead.
Michael and his family later moved to Moorhead, where he graduated from High School in 1994. Michael enjoyed hockey and spending summers on Big Cormorant Lake. He could be seen from across the lake either skiing, jet skiing or pulling his siblings. Michael spent many hours helping and playing with his favorite uncle, Jay Stenerson.
In 1994, Michael enlisted in the US Army. He was stationed in Schweinfurt, Germany and was deployed to Bosnia in 1995 as part of the IFOR Peacekeeping Force. Michael was a gunner, driver and commander of a Bradley Fighting vehicle and a very proud soldier. He was discharged in 1998 after suffering a back injury while in Bosnia.
Following his discharge, Michael worked as a carpenter while living in California. In 2007, he returned to Moorhead to be closer to his family. Michael's love for his family was deep and unwavering. He was a protector who would do anything for them. He always provided the jokes and the smile that everyone remembers him by along with his ever present sparkling eyes.
Michael's involvement with the U.S. Military Vets Motorcycle Club, where he was known as "Wood", helped define him the recent years. His brothers in the club gained a fierce supporter of their cause, and a lifetime friend. Michael gained a purpose, camaraderie and multitudes of new friends. He always considered them family, too.
Michael was most proud of three things that he accomplished during his short life; becoming an Eagle Scout, serving the United States of America in the U.S. Army, and being a member of the U.S. Military Vets Motorcycle Club. Michael was a proud patriot w
