Mike Rein

Mike Rein, 91, Moorhead, MN, passed away March 8, 2020, in Eventide Sheyenne Crossings, West Fargo, ND.
Mike was born on October 29, 1928, in St. Cloud, MN, to Mike and Mary (Richter) Rein. He graduated from St. Cloud Tech High School in 1946. On June 19, 1946, Mike enlisted with the United States Army. While serving in the Army he was tasked as a cryptographic repairman until his honorable discharge in 1949. Following the service, Mike was united in marriage to Margaret Akervik. They resided in St. Cloud until moving to Bloomington, MN. They lived in Bloomington for nine years until moving to Moorhead in 1963. For over 35 years, Mike worked for General Foods Corporation as a sales representative. Margaret passed away in 1965.
On October 14, 1966, Mike was united in marriage to Justine "Tina" Kampa. Mike and Tina purchased a cabin on Little Cormorant Lake in 1969. They really enjoyed spending time at the lake. They loved entertaining family, friends and relatives, whether it was fishing, boating, or grilling, a good time was had by all. He also enjoyed playing cards, going to the casino and watching sports. He was an active member at St. Joseph's Catholic Church. During this time, he became a 4th Degree Grand Knight. He was also a member with the VFW and American Legion.
Mike is survived by his wife, Tina; daughters, Pat (Dan) Geraghty, Terri (Kirk) Rueb; and son, Michael (Sharon) Rein. In addition, he is survived by eight grandchildren: Zach (Julia) Humason, Tony (Alyssa) Geraghty, Jess (Dave) Elliott, Michael Rueb, Matt Rueb, Rachel Rueb, Theresa Rein and Cole Rein along with nine great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; first wife, Margaret; one son, Rick; one daughter, Barbara; two brothers, Albert and Wilfred "Bitz"; and one sister, Jenny.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held Thursday, March 12, 2020 at 11AM in St. Joseph's Catholic Church, Moorhead. Visitation will be held Wednesday, March 11 Korsmo Funeral Chapel, Moorhead from 5pm - 7pm with a 7pm Prayer Service. Visitation will also continue at the church one hour prior to Mass.
