Mildred Frazee died Monday, September 7, 2009, at Rosewood on Broadway, Fargo, ND, where she had lived since 2005. She was 100 years old. The daughter of Julius and Gina (Afseth) Holen, she was born in rural Pelican Rapids, MN.
She was baptized and confirmed in Grove Lake Lutheran Church. She attended rural school there and high school in Pelican Rapids.
She worked in Dr. Boysen's hospital for five years as a cook and helped care for patients. Later she worked in a hospital in Seattle, WA.
She married Paul Frazee on November 3, 1941, in Pelican Rapids, where they lived the rest of their lives. He passed away December 28, 1984.
For many years, Mildred was very active in the First Congregational Church and did volunteer work at the Pelican Valley Nursing Home. Affectionately known as "the mitten lady", her hobbies were knitting, sewing and baking. She was also known for the lefse and doughnuts she baked for local stores.
She is survived by her daughter, Marjorie Oldfield, Pueblo, CO; son, Willis (Patricia) Frazee, Moorhead, MN; a sister, Ella, San Dimas, CA; four grandchildren, Ryan and Erin Frazee, and Janalee and Jason Chmel; five great-grandchildren; and several nieces
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Paul; daughter, Sylvia Chmel; three brothers, Norval, Norman and Irwin Holen; and three sisters, Alice Ostlund, Jeannette Kvare and Bernice Vie.
The Memorial Service will be Saturday, September 12, 2009, at 11 AM, in the Rosewood Chapel at Rosewood on Broadway.
Private inurnment will take place in Lake View Cemetery, Pelican Rapids, MN.
