Mildred Thompson

Mildred Thompson, 87, Moorhead, MN, passed away peacefully, surrounded by her family, on Tuesday, March 11, 2014, in Eventide on Eighth, Moorhead.

Mildred Darlene Lawrence was born on August 25, 1926, to George and Irma (Eliason) Lawrence, in Moorhead. She graduated from Moorhead High School in 1944. Mildred married Julian Thompson on September 12, 1947, in Our Savior's Lutheran Church, Moorhead, of which Mildred was a charter-member. She was a YWCA Woman of the Year in 1980 and was a member of the Silver Follies for 15 years. Mildred's special project was mailing Christmas cards to all of the shut-ins in area homes.

She was preceded in death by her parents; and two sons, Paul and David Thompson.

Mildred is survived by her husband of 66 years, Julian; four children, Robert (Ushi) Thompson of Germany, Rebecca Hughes, Peter Thompson, and Deborah Thompson; daughter-in-law, Karen Thompson; grandchildren, Christopher Hughes, Sharon (Eric) Johnston, Jon (Sheri) Thompson, Kristen Thompson, Jason Thompson, Amber (Mike) Sewczak, and Sandra (Swen) Thompson; and 9 great-grandchildren.

Visitation: One hour prior to service. Memorial Service: Monday, March 17, 2014, at 11:00 AM, in Our Savior's Lutheran Church, Moorhead.
