Milton J. Nelson

Milton J. Nelson was born March 31, 1927, in Fargo, ND, to Henry and Alma Nelson. After he graduated from Fargo High School, Milton joined the US Navy and served in WWII. Upon his return, he attended and graduated from Dakota Business College.

Milton married Violet Brenden of Hillsboro, ND, on March 14, 1951. Milton worked for NCR (National Cash Register Company) for forty years. When he retired in 1989, he and Violet purchased a home in Mesa, AZ, where they spent their winters. Their summers were spent fishing on Lake Cormorant, MN. Violet passed away in 1995.

Milton died Saturday, April 12, 2014, surrounded by his family, in Shakopee, MN, at eighty-seven years of age.

Milton enjoyed watching sports of all kinds, especially Vikings football. An avid fisherman, Milton kept count of how many days until fishing opener as well as how many walleyes he had caught every week, every month and every season. He will be deeply missed by his loving children, Sandra Sams, Chaska MN, James (Becky), Shakopee, MN, and Sheree Lavelle, Mesa, AZ; seven grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; brothers, Donald and William (Solveig), both near Seattle, WA; and a sister, Marilyn, Walla Walla, WA.

In addition to his wife, Milton was preceded in death by a sister, Marian.

A gathering of family and friends will begin at 10 AM, Wednesday, April 16, 2014, followed by a Memorial Service at 11 AM, in Korsmo Funeral Chapel, Moorhead, MN.

Burial, with military honors will be in Evergreen Memorial Cemetery, Moorhead.
