Milton O. Madson

Milton Owen Madson was born May 5, 1913, at Roseau, MN, to Elvin H. and Louise (Mathison) Madson. The family moved to Argusville, ND, when Milton was very young. He was raised on the farm near Argusville and graduated from Gardner (ND) High School in 1933.
Milton was united in marriage to Gladys E. Schafer on December 2, 1935, and they lived and farmed in the Gardner area. They retired from farming in 1979, but continued to make their home on the farm. Gladys died October 23, 2003, and Milton remained on the farm until his death at MeritCare Hospital, Fargo, ND, on Tuesday, April 14, 2009, at ninety-five years of age.
Farming was Milton's first love and passion. He also enjoyed eighteen years on the Cass County Electrical Board. He served on the Noble Township board as well as the Noble School board for many years. He was a member of the Perley Cooperative Elevator board as well as the Perley Creamery board. He was an active member of Nora Lutheran Church, having served on the church council as its president, secretary, and treasurer over the years. He also sang in the Men's Chorus, under the direction of his wife.
Milton is survived by his two sons, Leroy Madson, rural Gardner, and Roger (Kim) Madson, Fargo; two daughters, Evelyn Nelson, Dayton, OH, and Ruth (Larry) McCrank, Orland Park, IL; ten grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; son-in-law, Gerald (Beverly) Olson, Minot, ND; and two brothers, Burton (Helen) Madson, Fargo, and Gordon (Audrey) Madson, Duluth, MN.
In addition to his wife and parents, Milton was preceded in death by a daughter, Karen; and three brothers, John, Earl and Leslie.
Visitation for Milton will be Sunday, April 19, 2009, from 5 - 7 PM, with a prayer service at 7 PM, in Korsmo Funeral Chapel, Moorhead.
His funeral will be Monday, April 20, 2009, at 11 AM, in Nora Lutheran Church, rural Gardner.
