After living in Tennessee, Iowa and several Minnesota cities, including New York Mills, Mina moved to Moorhead, MN, in 1962. She worked for nine years in the Fargo Camp Fire Girls office. She was also an independent sales supervisor for Shaklee Corporation.

In 1965, Mina married Dr. David Whittenberg, in Grace United Methodist Church, Moorhead. She joined her husband as a Chiropractic Assistant, and received the "Distinguished Service Award" from the MN Chiropractic Association for outstanding service and dedication to the chiropractic profession.
