Misty Ann Thompson, 38, 'Cokata Inajin Win' (Stands in the Center Woman), of Hankinson, ND, left this earth for a better place on March 15, 2013. She fought a courageous battle against cancer, surrounded by her loving family in Breckenridge, MN.

Misty was born on March 19, 1974, in Graceville, MN. She was raised by her father, Michael Thompson, and her grandparents, Michael and Beverly Thompson. Misty spent most of her childhood in Sisseton and Peever Flats, SD, and she spent some school years (and most of her summers) in Cherokee, Iowa, with her aunt Mauri. She had lived in Hankinson since 1995, and was employed as the poker room manager at Dakota Magic Casino until the fall of 2012. Misty enjoyed spending time with her large family, and she loved her children above all else. She was soft-spoken, kindhearted, and nonjudgmental of humankind, and she loved and embraced life to the fullest. Her zest for sports, especially football, was one of her many passions, making her into a true Minnesota Vikings fan from day one.

Misty is survived by her children, all of Hankinson, including her daughters Krista (Tyson), Kayla, Kallie, and Khloe; her sons, Kristian, Kellen, and Kasen; significant other, Aaron Dorsey, Hankinson; grandparents, Michael and Beverly Thompson, Sisseton; great-aunt, Celestine (John) Ducheneaux, Mandan, ND; aunts, Michelle Tuttle, St. Paul, MN, and Mauri Thompson, Hankinson; uncle, Theron (Nancy)Thompson, Crystal, MN; brother, Zach Ryan, Sisseton; numerous cousins, nieces, and nephews; close friends to the family, Jeremy and Kellie HighEagle and family, Watertown, SD; childhood friends, Ella Robertson, Dawn Thompson, and Devon Bursheim.

She was preceded in death by her father, Michael; her uncles, Matthew Thompson and Lorenzo Tuttle; great-grandpas, Oscar Holst and Ed Thompson; great-grandmas, Margaret Wilson Holst and Violet Demaris Thompson; and many great-aunts and great-uncles.
