Myrna J. Swan, 79, of Moorhead, MN, entered into eternal life with her Lord and Savior on Thursday, November 28, 2019, in her home.
Myrna Jean Stofferan was born July 15, 1940, in Sheldon, IA, to Lawrence and Grace (Powers) Stofferan, the oldest of five children.
Myrna lived in Hospers, IA, where she attended school, and was active in the band, choir, and voice before graduating in May of 1958.
September 5, 1958, Myrna married M. Gale Swan in the Primghar, IA, Church of Christ, with her uncle, Elmer Stofferan officiating. The couple lived in Iowa for a short time before moving to Moorhead. There they were blessed with two children, Michelle and Michael. They attended Grace United Methodist Church in Moorhead, where the children attended Sunday school. Myrna was active as a teacher, Bible school teacher, helped with Christmas programs, wedding coordinator for ten years, providing altar décor for several years, and as a choir member.
Myrna and her family moved to Fargo, ND, and eventually purchased a home with rental property. Myrna ran the rental property for 32 years, along with her own cleaning business for ten years. She was also an Avon representative and a hospital visitor for the Northwest District of United Methodist Churches of Minnesota, for ten years.
Myrna always said, "I'm a Jack of all trades and a master of none," but always enriched my life by living to the fullest!
Myrna's hobbies included gardening, and painting; but she most enjoyed spending time with her four grandsons and great-grandchildren. They spent many days at their Round Lake cabin and at the Loon Lake home near Vergas, MN.
Myrna is survived by a son, Michael (Janeen) Swan, Prosper, ND; grandsons, Christopher (Sondra) Stensgard, Mapleton, ND, Tyler Stensgard, Fargo, Jake Swan, and Derek Swan, both of Moorhead; great-grandchildren, Jaiden and Isabell Stensgard; brother, Lowell (Nancy) Stofferan; sister, Betty (Jim) VanDerSlott, Sheldon, IA; sister-in-law, Sharon (Warren) Wilson; "adopted son," Milo (Robin) Dyke and family of Hazen, ND; and special friend, Kevin Riveland, Fargo, and several nieces and nephews.
Myrna was preceded in death by her husband, M. Gale; daughter, Michelle Rae; parents; and brothers, Richard and Wayne.
A Visitation for Myrna will take place on Tuesday, December 10, 2019, from 5 PM to 6:30 PM in Grace United Methodist Church, Moorhead, with her Memorial Service at 6:30. Burial will be in Vergas City Cemetery, Vergas, MN, at a later date.
