Myrtle E. Kind, 97, Moorhead, MN, died Friday, June 18, 2010, in Rosewood on Broadway, Fargo, ND.
Myrtle Elenora Johnson, the daughter of Olaf O. and Ida A. (Johnson) Johnson, was born in Bowman, ND, on April 7, 1913. After her mother died, she lived with family members in Bowman, and in Pelican Rapids, MN. Her father married Julia Ruud, and the family settled down in Pelican Rapids, where Myrtle grew up and received her education.
On June 19, 1938, Myrtle married Carlton Kind, in Pelican Rapids, MN. They made their home in Fargo and later moved to Moorhead. Myrtle worked for a number of businesses in Moorhead prior to working in the food service department at St. Ansgar Hospital in Moorhead. She retired in the early 1970s.
For seven years, Myrtle lived in Parkview Terrace, Moorhead. In December of 2009, she became a resident of Rosewood on Broadway. She was preceded in death by her husband, Carlton, who died in 1959, and her son, Larry, who died in 2006.
Myrtle is known for riding her three-wheeled bike around town. She loved to travel and enjoyed playing cards, bingo, and trips to Mahnomen.
Myrtle is survived by daughters, Janice (Lester) Engen, Fargo, and Phyllis Melby, Monett, MO; sons, Clayton (Janice) Kind, Vancouver, WA, and LeeRoy (Patti) Kind, Marysville, WA; daughter-in-law, Marcy Kind, Dilworth, MN; a sister, Juneth Riste, Grand Rap

Funeral service: Tuesday, June 22, 2010, at 10:30 AM, at Our Savior's Lutheran Church, Moorhead
