Myrtle Traun

Myrtle Traun, age 99, went home to be with her Lord on Sunday, March 27, 2011, at her home in Moorhead, MN, under the care of her family and Hospice of the Red River Valley.
Myrtle was born April 25, 1911, to Henry and Julia (Ellingson) Brainerd near Sherbrooke, ND. She was the fifth of eight children and was the last surviving member of her family.
Myrtle graduated from Hope (ND) High School in 1930. Upon graduation, she moved to Fargo, ND, to find work. While in Fargo, she met John Traun of Arago, MN. They were married November 15, 1937, in Moorhead, and raised four children.
Myrtle was a charter member of St. Francis de Sales Catholic Church in Moorhead, where she participated in fund raising events through her beautiful handiwork of knitting and crocheting for nearly 63 years. She was a life member of the Catholic Daughters of America, a member of Christian Mothers since 1942, and served many years as a volunteer for the American Red Cross and St. Ansgar Hospital/Dakota Heartland Auxiliary.
Myrtle is survived by daughters, Judy (Ernie) Renner of Bend, OR, Peggy (Mike) Greenwood of Rancho Mirage, CA; sons, Bob (Janet) Traun of Maplewood, MN, and Jim Traun of Moorhead; six grandchildren; seven great- grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
The visitation will be on Friday April 1, 2011, from 5-7 PM, at St. Francis de Sales Catholic Church in Moorhead, with a prayer service at 7 PM.
The funeral mass will be at 7 PM on Saturday April 2, 2011, at St. Francis, with a visitation beginning at 6:15 PM.
