Nadine Nelson

Nadine M. Nelson, age 79, passed away peacefully on Thursday, August 6, 2015, at her home in Hawley, MN, and now resides in her heavenly home.

Nadine Marie Lende was born in Hope, ND, on April 30, 1936, the daughter of Palmer and Helma (Halverson) Lende. In 1944, the family moved to a farm outside of Walum, ND, where she graduated from Hannaford (ND) High School. She received her teaching certificate from Valley City State Teachers College and taught school at Helena #1, rural Cooperstown, ND.

She moved to Fargo, ND, in 1956 where she worked for Fargo National Bank. Over the years, she also worked for J.I. Case, the City of Fargo, and the NP Railway Credit Union. She later became manager of the Burlington Northern Credit Union, which also included the WDAY and F-M Credit Unions. Following her banking career, she worked with her husband at Dakota Food Equipment in the accounting department.

On September 7, 1958, she was united in marriage to Darrel Nelson at Saron Evangelical Free Church at Cooperstown. They resided most of their married life in rural Harwood, ND, where they enjoyed gardening and canning their harvest. She was a great cook, famous for her rhubarb pie and white cake with chocolate frosting. She also enjoyed entertaining and decorating for holidays, always opening her home to relatives for a place to stay. Her family was the joy of her life and she enjoyed assembling family history in scrapbooks for all.

Nadine is survived by her husband of 56 years, Darrel; her siblings, Merlin Lende, Devils Lake, ND, Jan Weiland, Moorhead, MN, Darrel (Myrna) Lende, Phoenix, AZ, Darlene (Rick) Perske, Yorba Linda, CA, Colleen Kankelfritz, Moorhead, Vernon (Donna) Lende, Harwood, Roland (Connie) Lende, Alice, ND, and Karen (Roy) Simmons, Moorhead. She is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews and many great and great-great nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her father and mother, and an infant brother and sister.

A Visitation for Nadine will be Thursday from 5 PM until 7 PM with a 7 PM Prayer Service in Korsmo Funeral Chapel, Moorhead.

Her Funeral Service will be Friday, August 14, 2015, at 11 AM in Bethel Evangelical Free Church, Fargo, ND.

Burial for Nadine will take place Friday at 4:00 PM, in Saron Evangelical Free Cemetery, Cooperstown, ND

Memorials mayl be directed to Youth for Christ, CEF (Child Evangelical Fellowship), New Life Center, Park Christian School or a charity of your choice.
