Nancy K. (Eagle) Loy, 78, Moorhead, MN, died Wednesday, January 9, 2013, in Eventide Lutheran Home, Moorhead.

Nancy was born March 10, 1934, in Bismarck, ND, the daughter of Clifford and Wilma (Barlow) Eagle. She was raised and educated in Moorhead, attending the Campus School K-4 & Sharp Elementary grades 5-6. Seventh and eighth grades were spent at Moorhead Junior High. Nancy graduated as Salutatorian from Moorhead Senior High School in 1952. Her post-secondary education began at NDSU and then transferred to Moorhead State Teachers College, where in 1956 she earned her BS degree in Elementary Education and minored in music.

Nancy Eagle married Merrill Loy in February of 1956. Upon completion of college, they moved to Duluth, MN and began their family that included sons, Michael and Jon. Nancy and Merrill moved around a lot due to Merrill's military duties in the US Navy, having lived in California, Michigan and Minnesota.

Nancy Loy taught elementary music at the Arnold (MN) School, worked for the City of Duluth Public Library system as their book order librarian, taught nursery school and gave private piano lessons to children of new American citizens. Upon retirement in 1988, Nancy moved to Moorhead where she kept busy as an active member of Chapter CO of the P.E.O. Sisterhood, serving as Chapter President twice. She belonged to Bible Study Fellowship and was also an active member of the Fine Arts Club in Fargo, ND. Other professional memberships Nancy held included Kappa Kappa Gamma Sorority, SAI Music Sorority and P.E.O. Chapter AL of Duluth, MN, where she served as Correspondence Secretary.

Nancy's personal involvement included church ministry work at Lakeside Presbyterian Church, Duluth, Dial Hope Ministries, Sarasota, FL, First Congregational United Church of Christ, Moorhead, and served on the Volunteer Board at Eventide Lutheran Home as a Resident Living Committee member, overseeing issues with computers, communications and food service. Hobbies included playing the piano and organ, gardening, attending symphony concerts and college hockey games, spending time with friends and reading books about adventures and mysteries. Special traits of Nancy included hosting coffees, living in the house she grew up in, and sharing with others the need in the world for more comfort, care and compassion among all people. Nancy's lifelong passion was music as an advocate, listener and performer.

Nancy is survived by her son, Jon (Melanie) Loy, Worthington, MN; grandchildren Phillip (Maari) Loy, Fargo; Eric Loy, Omaha, NE, and Heather Loy, Worthington; and great-granddaughter Mabel Jane Loy, Fargo. Preceded in death were Nancy's parents; brother, William Eagle; and son, H. Michael Loy.
