Born July 11, 1934, Ottumwa, IA. Died March 22, 2011, Moorhead, MN.
Married in 1958 to Gerald B. "Jerry" Jacobs. Three boys and (wives): Brad (Judy), John (Susanne), and Rob (Jane). Seven grandchildren.
Received Associate of Arts from Monticello College, Alton, IL. (the second oldest women's college in the U.S.) and Bachelor of Science in Nursing, Northwestern University, Evanston, IL. She was a staff nurse at St. Luke's Hospital, Davenport, IA, and University Hospital, Iowa City, IA, from 1958-60. Long ago, Nancy was a member of the Moorhead City Beautification Committee, League of Women Voters and Moorhead State Faculty Wives. She loved gardening, the lake, Red Hats, and dining at the Fargo Holiday Inn.
Nancy Ruth Shore Jacobs, was a loving wife, caring relative, good friend, classmate, and friendly neighbor. A pleasant person to encounter in one setting or another.
She was operated on for colon cancer in February of 2009, and was nearly done in by the chemo treatment, but lived two years, with the spreading disease, until her death at home with her family.
Nancy was able to see all of her children and grandchildren some time during her last months of life. She will live on in their memories and, through her genetic code, imbedded in each of them, perhaps forever.
Every person was important to her, forming the threads that made up the fabric of her life. Were she able, she would tell everyone, "Goodbye, I'll miss smiling at you."
