Nelmer Lawrence Eberhardt was born November 2, 1927, in Page, ND, to Alfred and Edna (Hedstrom) Eberhardt. He was raised in Fargo, ND, where he graduated from high school. Nelmer was drafted into the Army and served overseas in Japan. Upon his honorable discharge, he returned to the Fargo area.
On June 4, 1949, Nelmer married Rose Dalen in Moorhead, where they made their home. Nelmer worked as a home delivery milk man with Cass Clay Creamery for over 40 years. Nelmer worked hard to provide a living for his family and he was trusted by many families who gave him keys to their home to deliver their milk.
Nelmer was a member of the Teamsters Local 116 and he was a steward for the union at the Creamery. He was also a life member of the Moorhead VFW. Nelmer enjoyed yard work and gardening, reading the Fargo Forum, listening to talk radio and watching sports on TV. He was known for the neatness and beauty of his yard as well as his excellent penmanship. Nelmer had a great sense of humor and enjoyed a joke or two. His boisterous laugh would ring if it was a good one.
On December 2, 2009, Nelmer's beloved wife, Rose, died. He continued to make his home in Moorhead where he was cared for by his family until his death at Sanford Health on Wednesday, October 26, 2011, at the age of 83.
