Norma J. Anderson, 80, Dilworth, MN, died Thursday, Feb. 12, 2009, in The Evergreens in Moorhead, MN, under the care of Hospice of the Red River Valley.
Norma Jean Dezell, the daughter of Benjamin and Eda (Nelson) Dezell, was born in Staples, MN, on February 20, 1928. She grew up, received her education and graduated from high school in 1946, in Staples.
Norma lived and worked in Minneapolis, until she was married to Gordon Anderson on February 20, 1948, at Bertha, MN. Following their marriage they made their home in Dilworth, MN. Norma was an avid bowler. She enjoyed gardening, playing softball, cheering on the Minnesota Twins, caring for her dogs, and baking, especially homemade bread and oatmeal chocolate chip cookies. She was active in her church, including singing in the choir and serving for weddings and funerals.
Her husband, Gordon, died in 1992. After his death, she continued to live in Dilworth. In the fall of 2006, she became a resident of The Evergreens in Moorhead.
Norma is survived by three daughters, Julienne Rosenfeldt and Kimberly (Bob) Blore, both Dilworth, and Bonnie (Don) Lovaas, Keene, ND; a brother, Gerald (Ethel) Dezell, Staples; two sisters, Karen (Fred) Huebner, Staples, and LuJean (Mark) Ruel, Osseo, MN; 9 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; 9 great-great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, her parents, and a brother, Gordon.
Visitation: Monday, 4 PM to 7 PM with a prayer service at 6 PM, in Korsmo Funeral Chapel, Moorhead, MN.
Funeral Service: Tuesday, February 17, 2009, at 2 PM, in Dilworth Lutheran Church, Dilworth, MN.
