Norma Jean Iverson

Norma "Jean" Iverson, 88, of Moorhead, MN, formerly of rural Underwood, MN, died Tuesday, January 17, 2017, in Lilac Homes, Moorhead.

Norma Jean Bishop was born April 15, 1928, the daughter of Clarence and Clara (Davies) Bishop, in Fisher, IL. She was raised in Indiana and graduated from Bloomingdale High School in 1946. After high school she attended Purdue University for a Dairy Testing Course. Upon completion of the course she traveled throughout Indiana testing dairy cattle. She then went to work for AT&T as a telephone operator for a couple of years.

Jean then moved to Minneapolis, where she attended school for Medical Lab Technician. It was during this time Jean met the love of her life, George "Sonny" Iverson, and they were married November 15, 1953, in St. Paul, MN. They then moved to a farm near Campbell, MN, where they farmed until 1978. After retiring they moved to Maine, MN, where they enjoyed their retirement years. On October 1, 2009, Jean and George moved to Moorhead. George died in 2010 and she continued to make her home in the Fargo/Moorhead area until moving to Lilac Homes.

She enjoyed the country life, gardening, quilting and watching the Minnesota Twins. Over the years, Jean and George enjoyed Sunday drives in the country and collecting Moline Tractors. Jean loved her family and was proud of her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren, she enjoyed spending as much time with them as she could. Jean will be remembered as a hardworking, loving, caring, giving person. She will also be remembered for making the best roast beef and fried chicken.

Jean is survived by her children, Sharon (James Bryn) Iverson, Fargo, ND, James (Lynn) Iverson, Moorhead, and Thayne (Rose) Iverson, Fergus Falls, MN; grandchildren, Alan (Louise) Iverson, Tyler Iverson, Kristopher Iverson and Melissa (Jason) Trinkle; great-grandchildren, Kimberly, Jasmine and Alexander; sister, Betty Starnes, Albuquerque, NM; and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, George; brothers, Darrell, Russell, and Gail; and sister, Evelyn.

Memorials are preferred to Hospice of the Red River Valley, Lilac Homes Assisted Living, Moorhead; or Silent Vale Cemetery Association.

A visitation for Jean will be one hour prior to her funeral service.

Her Funeral Service will be Sunday, January 22, 2017, at 2:30 PM, in Korsmo Funeral Chapel, Moorhead.

Burial will be in Silent Vale Cemetery, rural Underwood, MN, just north of Phelps Mill.
