Norma S. McCoy

Norma S. McCoy, 93, Moorhead, MN, died Friday, November 14, 2014, in Eventide on Eighth, Moorhead.
Norma Signe Johnson, daughter of Bennie and Anna Martha (Skrove) Johnson, was born on the family farm near Dalton, MN, on January 11, 1921. She grew up in Fergus Falls, MN, where she graduated from high school in 1939. As a young lady, she lived and worked in Minneapolis, MN, for about two years.
While on a trip to Yellowstone National Park, Norma met Philip B. McCoy. They carried on a relationship by mail, fell in love, and were united in marriage on April 30, 1944, in Fergus Falls, while Philip was still in the service.
The family lived in Glendale, CA, until 1955, when they moved to Fargo, ND. They later lived for 9 years at Agape Acres, rural Lake Park, MN, and in 1993, made their home in Moorhead.
Norma was a wonderful mother and grandmother, who will be remembered for telling family stories to her grandchildren. She possessed a deep Christian faith, that was expressed in Bible studies and sharing her faith in her warm friendly way. She was active in Women's Aglow and in various Christian home fellowships.
On March 9, 2009, Norma's beloved husband, Philip, died. After his death, Norma continued to live in Moorhead.
Norma is survived by her daughter, Eileen (Ron) Bakken, Moorhead; sons, Steven (Patricia) McCoy, Owasso, OK, Douglas (Naomi) McCoy, Junction City, OR, and Gregory McCoy, Broken Arrow, OK; sisters, Viola Behrends and Wyonne Adamson; 15 grandchildren; and 20 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband; a son, Mark, who died in 1959; her parents; and a sister, Helen.
Visitation: Tuesday, 5 PM to 7 PM, with service at 7, in Korsmo Funeral Chapel, Moorhead. Funeral: Wednesday, Nov. 19, 2014, at 11 AM in Faith Hope Love Church, Moorhead.
Burial at Riverside Cemetery, Fargo.
