Norman "Buck" W. Krabbenhoft, 89, of Pelican Rapids, formerly of rural Moorhead, died Saturday, December 15, 2007, at Pelican Valley Nursing Center under the care of Hospice.
He was born March 5, 1918, the son of Hans & Leafy (Moore) Krabbenhoft, near Sabin, MN. He grew up near Sabin and attended rural school. Buck was a life-long member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Sabin.
Buck enlisted in the US Army, serving in the Philippines & New Guinea during World War II. He was honorably discharged in 1945, and received the Bronze Star for meritorious achievement.
He married Ollie Rachal, of Texarkana, TX, on January 10, 1949 in Sabin, MN. They farmed south of Moorhead raising small grains and sugar beets. One of his proudest moments was being honored as "Pioneer of the Year", by the Northwest Farm Managers Association in 1988, for his outstanding contributions to agriculture and the community. Buck was active in many church, community and farm organizations.
In 1979 they retired to the Pelican Lake area. For the next 15 years, they volunteered as mission workers in West Africa, Arizona and Texas. They also worked with the Laborers for Christ on several building projects in the upper Midwest.
Buck enjoyed hunting, skiing and spending time with his family. The family expresses sincere appreciation for all the love and support given by friends in the Pelican Rapids and Moorhead communities.

Visitation will be Monday, December 17, 2007 from 5-7 pm, with a prayer service at 7pm, in Korsmo Funeral Chapel, Moorhead, MN.
Funeral will be Tuesday, December 18, 2007 at 2pm, in Trinity Lutheran Church, Sabin, MN.
Burial in Trinity Lutheran Cemetery, Sabin, MN.
