Norman E. Granlund, 83, Moorhead, MN, died Sunday, October 10, 2010, in Eventide Lutheran Home, Moorhead.
Norman Ellsworth Granlund, the son of Reuben and Minnie (Linder) Granlund, was born on March 8, 1927, outside of Nelson, MN. He grew up, received his education and worked on the family farm. He enlisted in the Army, and served May 1945 through December 1946. He was stationed in Japan from October 1945 to October 1946, where he was an installer repairman for telephone and telegraph.
After his discharge, he made his home in the Fargo-Moorhead area. He worked putting up telegraph lines along the railroad for awhile, and then in 1949, he began working at George E. Haggart Inc., in water and sewer construction.
On November 17, 1951, he was united in marriage to Sylvia Ida Rieke, in Fargo, ND. His job took him around the state of North Dakota, and his wife traveled with him. In 1957 they bought their first home in north Moorhead. They lived and raised their children there until 1976, when they bought a house in north Dilworth, MN.
After 40 years at George Haggart, Norman retired.
After retirement, Norman enjoyed traveling with his wife. He particularly enjoyed Alaska. When home, Norman would do woodworking and also made some Adirondack outdoor furniture. He also had enjoyed boating while raising his family and after retirement, he still enjoyed boating and fishing. At his home in Dilworth, he loved to feed squirrels and birds. In January of 2010, Norman became a resident of Eventide Lutheran Home, Moorhead.
Norman is survived by his wife, Sylvia, now of Moorhead; three daughters, Edna (Robert) Wentland, Boulder, CO, Naomi (Warren) Kluever, Moorhead, and Julie Hull, Moorhead; grandsons, Miles and Evan Wentland; sister, Aldyth Karrow, Valley, Nebraska; and bro

in Bottolfson Chapel, Eventide Lutheran Home, Moorhead.
Burial: Sunset Memorial Gardens, Fargo, ND.
