Norman H. Berge

October 7, 1934 — March 28, 2018

Norman Harry Berge, 83, Moorhead, MN, died Wednesday, March 28, 2018, in his home, under the care of Hospice of the Red River Valley.

Norman was born October 7, 1934, in Hagen, Saskatchewan, Canada, to Tobias and Anna (Nodeland) Berge, the fourth child and first born son of eight children. He was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran faith. He and his three sisters and four brothers grew up on the family farm in Hagen.

Norman attended Bastnes School, a one-room country school in Hagen. In 1947 the family moved to Norway for a year where he attended Nygård Skole in Søgne. Upon returning to Canada he attended Saskatchewan Lutheran Bible Institute in Outlook, Saskatchewan, and then completed his schooling at Hillcrest Lutheran Academy in Fergus Falls, MN, where he received his diploma in 1953.

Norman farmed in the Hagen area and also worked as a building contractor in various locations in Canada. He was a member of Bethel Lutheran Brethren Church in Hagen.
He was a bachelor until he reached the age of 67 when, in 2001, he married Martha Vorvick. It was also a first marriage for her. They enjoyed life together until her death in March of 2010.

On December 3, 2011, Norman was blessed with another loving spouse when he married Marion (Westrom) Koslowsky. He also was blessed with the addition of Marion's loving children and grandchildren, which added a dimension to his life that brought him great joy.

Norman was a quiet Godly man, with a passion for missions and the preaching of the gospel. He loved the Lord. As a prayer warrior he prayed daily for many friends and family.
Norman enjoyed traveling and many outdoor activities. He had a great love of music and was known to randomly burst into songs of praise if he thought no one was listening.

Norman was preceded in death by his first wife, Martha; parents, Tobias and Anna; sisters, Irene (Richard) Rogers and Alice Berge; brother, Reverend Arthur Berge; and his niece, Tammy Jo Berge Bialosky.

Norman is survived by his wife, Marion; sister, Judith (Jarle) Olson, Okotoks, Alberta, Canada; brother, Philip (Betty Jo) Berge, East Dundee, IL, Walter (Candis) Berge and Kenneth (Hope) Berge, Fergus Falls; sister-in-law, Ardith (Oxendahl) Berge, Calgary, Alberta, Canada; and 20 nieces and nephews and their spouses and families; as well as Marion's children, Kurt (Karen) Koslowsky, Brian Koslowsky, Kristi (Craig) Thomas, and Monica (Tim) Collins; and 15 grandchildren who loved him like a grandfather, Thomas, Anna and Ellen Koslowsky, Jesse, Keziah, Sierra and Jonah Koslowsky, Jenna, Brooke, Hope and Matteo Thomas, Alexandra (Paul) Fraser, Emily, Lukas and Leah Collins; and one great-grandchild, Elaina Koslowsky.
