Norman M. Eide

December 4, 1917 — February 27, 2005

Norman M. Eide, Omaha, NE, formerly of Moorhead, MN, died Sunday, Feb. 27, 2005, in Omaha, at the age of 87. He is survived by his wife of 63 years, Adeline.


Norman was born December 4, 1917, to Nels and Minnie Eide of Hitterdal MN. He attended Hitterdal schools and lived on the family farm. Norman married Adeline Jacobson of Ulen, MN, on December 27, 1941.


Norman enlisted in the U S Army in 1942 and was a staff sergeant in WW-II. He served under George S. Patton in the 707th Tank Battalion, and fought in the Battle of the Bulge. Norman and Adeline moved to Moorhead in 1947. They originally lived in north Moorhead then moved to south Moorhead where Norman owned and operated the Brookdale Phillips service station for several years. Norman had a long working relationship with John C. (Mike) Barrett, helping to build Barrett Mobile Home Transport in Fargo, from which Norman retired in 1993, at the age of 75.


In addition to his wife, Adeline, Norman is survived by two sons and one daughter; David (Cathy) Eide, Brainerd, MN, Kevin (Kari) Eide, Moorhead, and Laurie Eide (John Feneck), Omaha; a brother, Burton (Esther) Eide, Hitterdal; a sister, Pearl (Richard) Melby, Ulen; three grandchildren, Lisa (Matt) Guthmiller, Omaha, Jackie Eide, Omaha, and Jeffrey Eide, Georgetown, MN; five stepgrandchildren, Matthew Ketterling, Boston, MA, Benjamin Ketterling, St. Cloud, MN, and Ashley, Atalie, and Alaric Roerick, all Moorhead; and a great-grandson, Matthew Guthmiller, Jr

Norman was a loving husband, father and grandfather and will be missed by family and friends alike. He was known for his sense of humor, his kindness and generosity and his love of golf. Norman traveled extensively during his working years and developed friends wherever he went.


Visitation: Thursday, 5 PM to 8 PM
Korsmo Funeral Chapel, Moorhead.


Funeral: Friday, March 4, 2005, at 10 AM
Lutheran Church of the Good Shepherd, Moorhead.


Burial: East Salem Lutheran Cemtery, Hitterdal
