Obert Alvin Tenold was born April 13, 1923, in Reva, SD, to Iver and Anna (Ingavick) Tenold. Following high school, Obert attended South Dakota School of Mines and Technology, Rapid City, SD.
Obert entered the US Army on April 23, 1946 and served in the Occupation of Japan. Following his discharge on September 20, 1947, Obert returned to South Dakota where he met Dorothea Bolte. They were married December 6, 1951, in Belle Fourche, SD, where they made their home.
They moved to Moorhead, MN, in 1957, and Obert opened his own business, Red River Piano and Organ. He later closed the business and worked for Silverline Boats, Moorhead. He worked in customer service for Scheels Hardware since the early 1990s.
Obert and Dorothea moved to Argusville, ND, in 1969. Dorothea preceded Obert in death on October 3, 2006, and Obert continued to live in Argusville until January of this year. Obert died peacefully on Friday, February 17, 2012, at Golden Living Center, Moorhead, at eighty-eight years of age.
Obert is survived by his three sons, Arlen, West Fargo, ND, Duane (Rhonda), Fargo, ND, and Steve (Kelly), Stevensville, MT; eight grandchildren, Amber, Justin, Samantha, Brendan, Katie, Zane, Zach, and Faith; and three great-grandchildren, Mikinly, Jackson, and Brooklyn.
Obert was preceded in death by his wife; a brother, Art Tenold; and a sister, Marjorie Sunde.
The funeral will be Wednesday, February 29, 2012, at 2 PM, in First Assembly, Fargo.
Visitation will be at the church one hour before the service.
Burial, with full military honors, will be in Sunset Memorial Gardens, Fargo.
Due to weather conditions, the funeral for Obert has been rescheduled for Thursday, March 1, 2012, at 2:00 PM.
