Olive "Olli" S. Bowhall

Olive was born on May 7, 1932, on the family farm near Perley, MN, to Orville and Stella (Juve) Bjordahl. She graduated from Borup (MN) High School. Olli always had her eye on Glenn Bowhall with his blue eyes and curly hair when he returned from the Navy in 1946. They fell in love and married on March 25, 1950, in the house on the family farm. They raised their family (Garry and Glenda) and farmed in the Perley/Borup area. Olli and Glenn moved to Fargo, ND, in 1996 and to Viking Manor, Ulen, MN, in 2015. Glenn died January 12, 2020, and Olli died Sunday, September 19, 2021, under hospice care.

Olli held a variety of jobs including working at the Ada (MN) courthouse, Perley Café and General Nutrition Corporation which was her favorite job due to making so many wonderful friendships there. She was a self-taught master at wall papering and upholstering furniture. She was so generous in sharing those skills with family and friends.

Olli had a gift for making friends and keeping life-long friendships. She and Glenn had a large circle of friends who would gather to play cards, laugh, and tell stories. Olli was the "sparkplug" that kept the group smiling.

Olli was lovingly known as "Grandma Nan" to her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She taught them how to play card games for pennies, sing silly songs, and always found ways to make them laugh. Olli planned adventures for each grandchild and made sure they realized how special they were to her and Grandpa. She also poured her love into each and every great-grandchild that came along. Watching the generations unfold lit up her life.

Family meant everything to Olli and Glenn. Over 70 years of marriage, their love for each other and their family just grew and grew. They told their kids they would never change a day of their life together!

Olli is survived by her son, Garry (Linda) Bowhall, Erhard, MN; daughter, Glenda (Raynard) Trochmann, Moorhead, MN; four grandchildren, Garrett (Chris) Bowhall, Lisa Trochmann, Sarah (Scott) Eider and Laura (Adam) Bennett; eight great-grandchildren, Tucker, Jordan and Ainsley Bowhall, Evan, Violet and Evelyn Eider and Jaxon and Sutton Bennett; sisters, Marilyn (Harold) Vorvick and Ordell Erdahl; and many nieces and nephews. Many special times were had with Dot and Charlie Palmer, and Donna and Ron Gorde.

She was preceded in death by her loving husband, Glenn; and her sister, Bettye Harmel.

The family would like to extend a special thank you to the staff and volunteers at Viking Manor for the kind and compassionate care of both Olli and Glenn.

Gathering of friends and family will begin at 1 PM, with a Life Celebration Service at 2 PM, Saturday, September 25, 2021, in Korsmo Funeral Chapel, Moorhead. Due to current health concerns, please wear a mask if you have not received the COVID-19 vaccination.
