Olivia Miller, 95, Fargo, ND, died Tuesday, June 22, 2010, in ManorCare Health Services, Fargo.
Olivia Torrison was born May 24, 1915, the youngest of the Torrison children born to Salomon and Barbara (Gunnerson) Torrison. Olivia attended country school and graduated from McHenry High School.
Olivia was confirmed in Norwegian at the rural Gethsemane Lutheran Church. She was a self-taught organ and piano player and had a beautiful singing voice.
On July 2, 1936, Olivia married Edwin R. Miller in Sisseton, SD. They made their home on a farm that was near Edwin's parents. Olivia helped Edwin on the farm and cared for their vegetable and flower gardens.
In 1959, Olivia and Edwin sold the farm and moved to Fargo. They managed the Colonial Hotel and Apartments and owned some apartments themselves.
Olivia enjoyed volunteering at the Senior Center where she helped to prepare the tables and serve food. She rarely missed a day and was a dependable helper and quick worker. She also enjoyed puzzles and other crafts and handwork such as embroidery and cr
Olivia was preceded in death by her husband, Edwin, who died in 1981; her parents; and her brothers and sisters. She is survived by a brother-in-law, Howard Miller; several nieces and nephews; and good friends, Leona (Ed) Leopoldt.
Visitation: one hour prior to the service at the church.
Funeral: Saturday, June 26, 2010 at 10:00 AM at River Valley Church, Moorhead, MN.
Burial: Binford, ND
