Opal I. Cameron, 87, Moorhead, MN, died Saturday, July 6, 2013, in Essentia Medical Center, Fargo, ND.
Opal Irene Sletten, the daughter of Joseph and Josephine (Tastad) Sletten, was born December 14, 1925, in Pierpont, SD, where she grew up and received her education. She was united in marriage in Pierpont on November 23, 1944, to Dean Cameron.
The couple lived in Pierpont until 1959, when they moved to Moorhead, MN, where they have lived since. Opal worked at The Finest Women's Wear, Northport Clothiers, and Straus Clothing. She retired at the age of 70.
Opal enjoyed gardening, cleaning, and baking. She was active in her church in a number of capacities, and for the annual church "Apple Pie Sale," baked hundreds of wonderful pies. Opal loved her family and was especially fond of her great-grandchildren.
Opal is survived by her two daughters, Penny (Daniel) Daehlin, Danbury, WI, and Peggy (Don) Goodman, Moorhead; a sister, Mary (Robert ) Raap, Bristol, SD; a brother, Walter (LaVonne) Sletten, Montevideo, MN; grandchildren, Erik (Heidi) Daehlin, Allison (Matthew) Coalwell, and Sydney Addy; and great-grandchidren, Alissa Alveraz, Josiah, Faith and Aiden Daehlin, and Matthias, Micah, and Addison Coalwell. Opal was preceded in death by her husband, Dean, who died June 12, 2006; her parents; two sisters; and two brothers.
Visitation: Tuesday, 5 PM to 7 PM, with a prayer service at 7 PM, in Korsmo Funeral Chapel, Moorhead.
Funeral: Wednesday, July 10, 2013, at 11 AM, in Our Savior's Lutheran Church, Moorhead.
Burial: Homer Cemetery, Pierpont, SD.
