Osmund P. "Bud" Reno, 84, died Monday, June 22, 2009, at the VA Medical Center, Fargo, ND.

Bud was born August 4, 1924, to Abraham and Minnie (Stigen) Reno, in Shelly, MN, where he grew up and was educated.

Bud enlisted in the US Army May 8, 1943. He served with the 103rd Timberwolves Artillery Battalion in Europe. He was in the Normandy Invasion and the Battle of the Bulge and was honorably discharged in 1945.

While on leave, Bud married Gladys Halvorson on May 20, 1944, in Moorhead, MN. They had one son, Dennis. They lived in Shelly and Dilworth, MN, spending some winters in Arizona. Gladys died in 1983.

Bud worked at Fairmont Creamery as an over the road trucker for over thirty years, retiring when the creamery closed in the 1980's. He then lived in Colorado for several years working as a construction foreman. Bud returned to the Fargo Moorhead area a few years ago.

Bud was a member of the Teamsters. He was also a very proud veteran and a long-time member of the VFW and American Legion. A highlight for Bud was his trip with the Honor Flight to the Washington, DC WWII Memorial to years ago.
His hobbies included hunting, horses, snowmobiling and motorcycling. He enjoyed several trips to northern MN where he hunted with family and friends. Bud owned horses and was a member of the Clay County Sherriff's Posse in the 60's.

In addition to his wife, Gladys, he was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Raymond (Mary) Reno; sisters, Fern (Bob) Koth, Imogen (Pete) Peterson, Eleanor (Earl) Crouse; and a niece, Sandra Crouse.

He is survived by his son, Dennis (LuAnn) Reno; grandsons, Tony (Julie), Craig (Nicole), and Ross; and great-grandchildren, Ally, Sofia, Jenessa, and Thomas Reno; a special friend, Ethel Fode; and several nieces and nephews.


Memorial Service: Thursday, June 25, 2009, at 10:30 AM, at Concordia Lutheran Church, 6637 80th Ave North, rural Glyndon.
