Pastor Paul E. Knutson

Pastor Paul Ernest Knutson died Monday, June 13, 2016, at his home in Eventide on Eighth, Moorhead, MN.

Paul was born February 7, 1942, to Ernest and Esther (Hulberg) Knutson in Whitehall, WI. He graduated from Pleasantville Grade School, Whitehall Memorial High School (1960), Luther College, Decorah, IA (1964), Luther Theological Seminary, St Paul, MN (1968), and St. Joseph's Hospital Chaplaincy training.

Following ordination on June 9, 1968, in Osseo, WI, Pastor Knutson served at Grove Lake and North Immanuel Lutheran Churches of Pelican Rapids, MN. He subsequently served congregations in Clearbrook, Leonard, and Grygla, MN. He also served as a chaplain at St. Joseph's Hospital, St. Paul, MN, and Hazelden Center in Center City, MN. Pastor Knutson retired in 2007. Pastor Knutson married Alice Labraaten in 1968.

Paul is survived by his son, Chad of Minneapolis; daughter, Kara of Duluth; brothers, Don (Barb) of Pleasantville, and Mark of Osseo. He was preceded in death by his parents, Ernest and Esther Knutson; his grandparents, aunts, uncles and several cousins.

Paul enjoyed classical music, reading, and antiques. Throughout his life his hobbies were also refinishing furniture, brass, silver and copper, as well as reframing old pictures. He greatly enjoyed his volunteer work at Dakota Boys Ranch Stores in Fargo and Moorhead.

Visitation for Pastor Knutson will begin at 1 PM, followed by a funeral at 2 PM, Wednesday, June 22, 2016, in Comstock Lutheran Church, 2024 159th Avenue South, Comstock, MN. Burial will be Thursday, June 23, 2016, at 12:00 noon, in Augustana Lutheran Cemetery, Clearbrook, MN.
