Paul Saastad

Paul Saastad, aged 63, of Halstad, Minnesota, passed away on November 24, 2024 at the Halstad Living Center.

Born on December 31, 1960, in Des Moines, Iowa, Paul was the son of Jerrold and Carol (Fowlds) Saastad. His early years were spent in Iowa before the family relocated to San Francisco, California. During his high school years, they moved to Fargo, North Dakota, where he graduated from Fargo South High School in 1979. He furthered his education at North Dakota State School of Science in Wahpeton, North Dakota, before transferring to North Dakota State University in Fargo.

Paul began his professional journey in the construction industry, starting with hands-on labor and eventually working on the computer side of construction. He spent several years in San Bernardino, California, where he was married and became a father to his son, Aaron. In 1994, Paul established his home in Halstad, Minnesota, where he worked for Solein and Larson Engineering. His career was affected by a diagnosis of Multiple Sclerosis, which led to his early retirement in 2010.

Music was a significant part of Paul’s life; he had a passion for playing the guitar, a love he shared with his son. In 2020, Paul became a resident at the Halstad Living Center, where he received compassionate care from the staff.

Paul is survived by his son, Aaron Saastad, of New Jersey; his mother, Carol Saastad, of Fargo, North Dakota; and his sister, Sonja Saastad, also of Fargo. He was preceded in death by his father, Jerrold, earlier in 2024.

In accordance with Paul’s wishes, no funeral services will be held.
