Pearl Violet Lehr, the daughter of Fred and Bertha (Hochstetter) Lehr was born in Alfred, ND, on June 15, 1919. She grew up and received her education in Alfred, and in Gackle, ND, where she graduated from high school in 1939. She received her nurses training at St. Alexius Hospital School of Nursing in Bismarck, ND.
Pearl worked as an RN in Seattle, WA, and in Wyandotte, Michigan prior to moving to the Minneapolis, MN area. She lived in Robbinsdale, MN, and worked at Swedish Hospital, which was later renamed the Metropolitan Medical Center. She retired in 1981 after 32 years of service.
In retirement, she continued to live in the twin cities and was especially active in her church, 4th Baptist Church, where she was a key part of the "Golden Agers" group.
In October of 2006, Pearl moved to Moorhead, MN. In 2008, she became a resident of The Evergreens in Moorhead. In February of 2009, Pearl became a resident of Elim Care Center, Fargo, where she died on Thursday, December 3, 2009, at the age of 90.
Pearl is survived by three sisters, Nora (Ervin) Gums, Jamestown, ND, Dora Austin, Denver, CO, and Rosella Grosz, Moorhead; a brother, Melbert Lehr, Lodi, CA; and 19 nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents and three brothers, Raymond, Harry and Arthur Lehr.
Visitation: Monday, 5 PM to 7 PM, Korsmo Funeral Chapel, Moorhead.
Funeral service: Tuesday, Dec. 8, 2009, at 11 AM, Brookdale Baptist Church, Moorhead.
Burial will be in Highland Home Cemetery, Jamestown, ND.
