Peder Redfield

Peder Alan Redfield was born April 21, 1948, in Valley City, ND, the son of Ivanelle "Ivy" and Ingvald "Ing" Redfield. He attended school in Moorhead, MN and graduated from Moorhead High School in 1966. After high school, he continued his education and graduated from Moorhead State University in 1971 with a degree in Mathematics. He worked through college at Hornbachers and then for a short time with B.H. Chesley Company. The final 26 years of his career were spent with Fairway Foods where he was a meat buyer. In 1972 he married Kathy Murphy in Moorhead, and together they had four children. He was a member of Our Savior's Lutheran Church, the Moorhead Spud Boosters, and enjoyed attending the Moorhead Athletic Association (MAA) luncheons. Most of his free time in the summers, were spent at the lake with his family.
Peder loved his family. The highlight of his life was attending his children's sporting events. He and Kathy made sure their children were never without their parent's support in any of their activities. Peder especially enjoyed the time he was able to spend with his "little buddy," grandson, Jacob who referred to Papa as the "Old Goat." His time here on earth was much too short. There are some very special upcoming family events he was looking forward to, but we know he will always be with us. We are so grateful for the time he gave us and all the wonderful memories.
Peder died Thursday, February 5, 2004, at MeritCare Hospital, Fargo, ND, at fifty-five years of age.
He is survived by his wife, Kathy, Moorhead; mother Ivanelle "Ivy", Moorhead; four children, Jason (Jerene) Redfield, Dilworth, MN, Jennifer Redfield and friend, Nate Baukol, Grand Forks, ND, Jessica Redfield and fiancé, Lane Huseby, Moorhead, and Justin Redfield, Moorhead; one sister Carol (Keith) Hoffman, Moorhead; one brother Steve (Barb) Redfield, Fargo; one grandson Jacob, Moorhead; and 6 nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his father Ingvald "Ing" Redfield.
Visitation for Peder will be Sunday, February 8, 2004, from 5 - 8 PM, with a prayer service at 7 PM, in Korsmo Funeral Chapel, Moorhead. The funeral will be Monday, February 9, 2004, at 2 PM, in Our Savior's Lutheran Church, Moorhead. Burial will be in Riverside Cemetery, Moorhead.
