Philip Edward Felde was born March 31, 1929, in Barnesville, MN, to Mathias and Borghild (Jahr) Felde.
The family moved to Fargo, ND, in 1936 and he graduated from Fargo Central High School in 1947. Philip then received a civil engineering degree from North Dakota State University, in 1951. He continued his education in Chicago by training for the US Navy that same year.
Philip enlisted in the United States Navy in December of 1952, and served until December of 1955. He was united in marriage to June Hedlund on June 8, 1953, in Fargo ND. Phil began working for Northwestern Bell Telephone Company and they lived in Grand Forks, ND, Moorhead, MN, Williston, ND, and back to Moorhead in 1963. He continued with Northwestern Bell until his retirement in 1983.
Philip managed to keep busy in his retirement working as a seasonal groundskeeper at Mount Carmel Ministries in Alexandria MN. He also worked for Eventide as a driver and their maintenance staff. Philip retired a second time in 1999, at 70 years of age. June passed away on November 14, 2008, and Philip continued to make his home in Moorhead.
Philip entered Eventide on 8th in Moorhead, in May of 2024, and it was there that he passed away on July 11, 2024, at 95 years of age.
Philip was a long-time member of Lutheran Church of the Good Shepherd in Moorhead and eventually Our Redeemer Lutheran Church, also in Moorhead. With his business knowledge, Philip served as a treasurer for many organizations he was involved with.
Philip helped found the Red River Theatre Organ Society in 1965. As a charter member, he served as its secretary and treasurer. He volunteered countless hours to help restore the Mighty Wurlitzer Theatre Pipe Organ at the Fargo Theatre in the 1970s and ‘80s.
Philip is survived by his children, Judy Salvi (Floyd Fortin), Daniel, Paul, Sara (Sheldon) Reed, Peter, and Mark; and five grandchildren, Gina, Philip, Samuel, Anna, and Hans.
In addition to his wife, Philip was preceded in death by all seven of his siblings, George, Lillian, Maurice, Florence, Lorentz, Eva, and Norman.
Visitation for Philip will be Friday, July 26, 2024, from 5 – 7 PM, with a prayer service and time of sharing at 6:30 PM, in Korsmo Funeral and Cremation Service, Moorhead. A memorial service will be Saturday, July 27, 2024, at 2 PM, in Our Redeemer Lutheran Church, Moorhead. Burial will follow in Riverside Cemetery, Moorhead.
Memorials are preferred to the charity of the donors choice.
