Phyllis Jeanne Andrews, the daughter of Robert and Anne (Thomas) Andrews, was born October 12, 1930 in Benson, MN. She grew up in the Foxhome, MN, area, and graduated from high school in Morris, MN in 1947. Phyllis attended nursing school in Minneapolis, MN.
In 1948, she was married to Dwight Marshall. They lived in Fergus Falls, MN, where Phyllis worked as a nurse at the state hospital.
In 1987 or 1988, Phyllis moved to Dilworth, MN. On Dec. 26, 1991, she was united in marriage to Robert Pickar, in Hawaii. They lived in Dilworth, and later on Leaf Lake near Lake Park, MN. Phyllis and Robert spent winters in Apache Junction, AZ. In July of 2004, they made their home in Moorhead, MN, where they had lived since.
Phyllis J. Pickar died Friday, August 17, 2007, at MeritCare Hospital in Fargo, ND, at the age of 76.
She is survived by her husband, Robert, Moorhead; three sons, Robert (Philomena) Marshall, Elk River, MN; Thomas (Erin) Marshall, Washington, DC, and Richard Marshall, Fergus Falls, MN; a daughter Jane Sampson, Fargo; seven grandchildren; one great-grandchild; five step-children, John (Bunny) Pickar, Valley City, ND, Sandra (Allen) Weiss, Helendale, CA, Ellen (Lynn) Schirmer, Detroit Lakes, MN, Peggy (Dan) Schlenk, Apache Junction, and Ross (Connie) Pickar, Underwood, ND; four step-grandchildren; and three step-great-grandchildren.
