Quirina A. Ramirez

Quirina Apolonio Ramirez, 87, Moorhead, MN, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, February 3, 2015, surrounded by her loving family at Eventide on Eighth, Moorhead.

She was born on March 30, 1927, to Jose and Manuela Apolonio in Obando, Bulacan, Philippines. She was one of twelve children; the last surviving Apolonio sibling. She graduated with a degree in Pharmacy from the University of Santo Tomas (UST), Manila, Philippines. She was the Director of Pharmacy at UST Hospital. On December 27, 1958, she was joined in holy matrimony to Genaro Ablao Ramirez, MD. In 1966, she immigrated to the United States with her husband and five small children.

A longstanding member of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Moorhead, she was very involved with the Christian Mothers, active in fundraising events for the American Cancer Society, and a founding member and officer of the Fil-Am-Minn-Dak Association.

She was preceded in death by her husband; son Earl; brothers, Domingo (infant), Pablo, Celestino (CPA), Domingo (MD), Rustico (DDS); and sisters, Fransica, Sinfarosa, Trinidad, Clara, Theodora, and Feliciana.

She is survived by sisters-in-law, Corazon Apolonio, Gloria Apolonio, MD, Demetria Apolonio, DDS; brother-in-law, Antonio Sarrosa, MD; children, Sharon Ramirez (Mark Lutterman), Minneapolis, MN, Ava Ramirez-dela Cruz (Larry dela Cruz), White Plains, NY, Pia (Michael) McGregor, Fargo, ND, and Mark (Elizabeth) Ramirez, Madison WI; grandchildren, John, Michael Jr, Rebecca, Sondra (Samuel), Emily and Grant; and great-grandson, Alejandro.

Visitation will be Sunday, February 8, 2015, from 5 -7 PM, with a prayer service at 7 PM, in Korsmo Funeral Chapel, Moorhead. Funeral Mass will be Monday, February 9, 2015, at 11 AM, in St. Joseph Catholic Church, Moorhead.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial contributions be made to American Cancer Society, St. Joseph Catholic Church and Hospice of the Red River Valley.
