Rachel Lyn Schoephoerster
May 23, 1978 - October 7, 2017

On the afternoon of October 7, 2017, Rachel passed peacefully into the presence of Christ surrounded by her family.

Rachel lived a vivacious and fun-filled life until she was hit by a car in May 1988, which took away her ability to walk and talk. Rachel graduated from Fergus Falls (MN) Senior High School in 1997. She then worked at Productive Alternatives for 10 years until moving to Moorhead, MN, in 2002. While living in Moorhead, Rachel was employed by Heartland Industries.

In 2009, Rachel made a big decision to move out of her parents' house and into a CCRI group home where she enjoyed new friendships, card games, and outings. Her favorite outing was a weekly swimming trip to the YMCA. Over 100 caregivers have been a part of Rachel's life. Several caregivers changed their career paths; others accepted Christ as Savior as a result of caring for Rachel. Rachel had the unique ability to create relationships and communicate without saying a word. The family thanks the many nurses, caregivers, and CCRI staff who have cared for Rachel and impacted our lives. Blessed be the memory of Rachel Lyn Schoephoerster.

Rachel is survived by her parents, Reed and Roni; her grandparents, Arlene Stock, Marilynn and Roger Schoephoerster; her sisters, Bethany (Nathan) Addink of Denver, CO, Anna (Benjamin) Meland of Fargo, ND, and Holly (Korey) Leafblad of Vicenza, Italy; six nieces and four nephews; aunts and uncles, Marsha (Stanley) Vistad, Kurt (Diane) Schoephoerster, Eric Schoephoerster, Raelene (Stanley) Stark; eight first cousins, and many other family and friends.

Rachel was preceded in death by her grandfather, Raymer Stock.

Graveside service will be held on Wednesday, October 11, 2017, at 10 AM in Lands Lutheran Cemetery, Hoffman, MN.

The Memorial service will be performed by Pastor Dave Motta and Pastor Steve Hoffman at Calvary Methodist Church, Fargo, on Wednesday, October 11, 2017, at 3 PM.
