R.E. Moyano, 81, died Monday, September 3, 2007 in Eventide, Moorhead, MN.
R.E. Moyano was born January 17, 1926 on his grandparents' farmstead outside of Augusta Springs, VA to Rafael E. and Mildred (Reese) Moyano. His childhood was spent in several locations: the Virginia farmstead, as well as Baltimore, MD; Columbus, OH; Detroit, MI; Washington, D.C. and Lima, OH.
He entered the U.S. Army, May 15, 1943 and served overseas as a combat infantryman with the 30th Regiment, Third Infantry Division during World War II. He was honorably discharged May 30, 1945 from the Mayo General Hospital and settled in Chicago, IL.
R.E. was united in marriage to A.L. Weckesser on April 9, 1947 in Milwaukee, WI and they made their home on the west side of Chicago. He initially worked for the VA for six years, then later for the Signal Corps Procurement Agency/Chicago Procurement District, U.S. Army for twenty years and worked the last twelve years as an office manager for the IRS, Midwest Region, Chicago District.
He was a lifetime member of AMVETS Memorial Post #97 and belonged to the Loyal Order of Moose. He moved from the Chicago area to Moorhead, MN in 2000 and resided at Eventide since 2001.
R.E. Moyano is survived by his sister Josephine Pompey, Tucson, AZ and brother William (Joyce), Detroit, MI and two sons Myron Moyano, Denver, CO and Milo (Anne) Moyano, Moorhead, MN and two grandsons, Daniel (Michele) and James, and great-grandson, Vince
