Rafael Gusman was born July 18, 1932, in Mazatlan, Mexico, to Juan and Juana (Navarro) Salazar. Rafael spent much of his life working in the orchards and fields of Colorado, Oregon, Arizona and California. Rafael came to Moorhead in the middle 1960's.
Rafael began working at the Dorothy Day House, Moorhead, in 1984, as their maintenance person. He was the person responsible for growing and tending to their beautiful flower gardens.
