Ralph L. Carlson, the son of Fredrick and Betty (Erickson) Carlson, was born in Moorhead, MN, on May 28, 1922. Ralph grew up in Moorhead, where he graduated from high school.
During WW II, Ralph served his country in the US Navy, aboard ship in the Pacific Theatre of War. After his discharge, he returned to Moorhead.
On August 27, 1950, Ralph was united in marriage to Evelyn Schultz, in Detroit Lakes, MN. Following their marriage, they made their home in Moorhead, where they have lived since.
Ralph served as a rural mail carrier for many years. He retired from the US Postal Service in the late 1970s.
Recently, Ralph became a resident of Moorhead HealthCare Center, where he died on Monday, Nov. 28, 2005, at the age of 83.
He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, a sister, and a grandson, Pete Bouton.
Ralph is survived by his wife, Evelyn, Moorhead; two daughters, Joyce (Pete) Bouton-Ellingson, Detroit Lakes, MN, and Gloria Carlson, Moorhead, who is handicapped and to whom Ralph devoted himself to care for; a granddaughter, Tami (Rick) Olsen, Moorhead; and five great-grandchildren, Jack Steen, Taylor, Dylan and Ciara Olsen, and Travis Bouton.
