Raymond Bray

Raymond Peter "Bud" Bray, 90, of Cottage Grove, OR, formerly of Moorhead, MN, died October 15, 2016, in his home, under hospice care.

Bud was born on December 26, 1925, in Staples, MN, to parents Raymond C. and Mary (Magnon) Bray. He graduated from high school in Dilworth, MN. He served with the US Navy Air Corps during WWII as an aviation mechanic and flight crew chief. He fought in the battles for the South Atlantic.

He married Dorothy Peterson on October 31, 1948 in Moorhead. She died in 1992, and a few years later he married Lorraine Johnson on July 24, 1996, in Rapid City, SD. Ray was an office manager for Savings & Loans Lenders. His primary career was in sales of industrial chemicals.
Bud enjoyed games and cards (bridge), dancing, concerts, travel and reading. He liked to follow sports teams, especially football. He was famous for his margarita hour, and he had a sweet tooth, especially for chocolate. His favorite thing was spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus and Lions Club.

Bud is survived by his wife, Lorraine, Cottage Grove; sons, Patrick (Mary) Bray, Milbank, SD, Steven Bray, Dassel, MN, and John Bray, Longmont, CO; daughters, Roberta (Steve) Webber, Portland, OR, Carol (Rick) Embertson of Roseburg, OR; and Gail (Jim) Weisgerber, Portland; sisters, Beverly (George) Sutton, Tucson, AZ, and Eloda (Bill) Ervin, Ann Arbor, MI; a brother, Richard Bray, Mechanicsville, PA; 12 grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his first spouse, Dorothy, and a daughter, Katherine Bray.

A memorial service will be held on Monday, Nov. 7, 2016, at 2 PM, in Korsmo Funeral Chapel, Moorhead.

Burial will follow at St. Joseph's Catholic Cemetery, Moorhead.
