Raymond Dahl

Raymond Henry Dahl was born on July 17, 1929, to Henry and Ellen (Olson) Dahl in Felton, MN. He grew up near Felton and graduated from Felton High School in 1947. He farmed with his parents for a short time before attending Lutheran Bible Institute and Minneapolis Business College in Minneapolis, MN and during this time he worked at Honeywell in Minneapolis.

In the summer of 1952, Raymond met Beverly Stene at East Marsh River Lutheran Church. Ray was drafted into the army in 1953. He served overseas, working in the finance office in Heidelberg, Germany, and was discharged in February 1955. From that spring quarter into the fall, Ray attended the University of Minnesota and later transferred to North Dakota State University.

Raymond proposed to Beverly Stene in September of 1955 and they were married on August 31, 1956. They farmed near Felton, MN, and enjoyed a successful career until he retired from farming in 1994.

He worked as a security guard for ASP Security and Allied Security until 2007. He was a Felton Township Supervisor for close to thirty years and was an EMT and a charter member on the Felton Rescue Squad. He held many church offices and served as a 4-H leader and as a member of the Gideons International.

Raymond had a quiet personality and a winsome smile, and a good sense of humor. He enjoyed music, folk festivals, and sports. He loved camping, fishing, and traveling. He was an avid reader and enjoyed photography. Ray loved the land and was always interested in the land and farming.

Raymond passed away peacefully at midnight on April 10, 2015 at the age of eighty-five.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

He is survived by his wife, Beverly; children, Gregory (Sheila) Dahl, Eagan, MN, Bruce Dahl, Felton, Larry (Shelley) Dahl, Cedar Rapids, IA and Jenine (Michael) Andersen, Fargo; eleven grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; sisters, Marian Kerr, Keizer, OR, and Evelyn (LeRoy) Ness, New Canaan, CT; brother, Kenneth (Joann) Dahl, Dilworth, MN; and several nieces and nephews.

A Visitation for Ray will be Wednesday from 5 PM until 7 PM, with a 7 PM, Prayer Service in Korsmo Funeral Chapel, Moorhead.

His Funeral Service will be Thursday, April 16, 2015, at 10:30 AM in Gloria Dei Lutheran Church, Felton.

Burial will take place in Felton Cemetery.
